Area of Rescue Assistance Signs

An Area of Rescue is a location in a building designed to hold occupants during a fire or other emergency when evacuation may not be safe or possible.

An Area of Rescue is required under the ADA and early versions of the International Building Code (IBC).
States that have not adopted the IBC 2009 or later codes, may still refer to these locations as 'Areas of Rescue Assistance' and the signs shall have verbiage to reflect this.

Code requirements state that proper signage must be visible to direct individuals to an Area of Rescue. Choose from Directions for Call Box Use, Illuminated, Door or Directional signage.
